Prof. Didem Şohretoğlu

Didem Sohretoglu studied Pharmacy, at Hacettepe University, Ankara, Turkey. She received her Master of Science degree in Pharmacognosy, Hacettepe University and her PhD degree in a sandwich program between Hacettepe University, Turkey and Lund University, Sweden. She worked as a post-doc in the Department of Organic Chemistry, Lund University, Sweden for a short term. She was a visiting associate professor at the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Department in Louisiana State University, Shreveport, LA, USA for one year. Presently, she works as a full professor in Department of Pharmacognosy, Hacettepe University, Ankara (Turkey). She is also vice manager of Hacettepe University Graduate School of Health Sciences. Her research interests focus on the isolation, structure elucidation of potentially active plant metabolites, investigation of anticancer (apoptosis, cell cycle and mTOR pathway), enzyme inhibitory (topoisomerases, β-glucosidase, tyrosinase) activities natural products and predicting binding positions by using molecular docking studies. She won the Scientific Encouragement Award of Turkish Pharmacists Association TEB in 2018. She is a member of Turkish Pharmacopeia Pharmacognosy Committee.
She is in the editorial board of Phytochemical Analysis, Frontiers in Pharmacology and Hacettepe University Journal of Faculty of Pharmacy.
Prof. Simon Gibbons

In 2022 he won the Phytochemical Society of Europe Medal for his research in phytochemistry. In 2005 he won the Phytochemical Society of Europe Prize for Phytochemistry, the 2012 Pharmanex Prize, and was a Fellow of The Prince's Foundation for Integrated Health. From 2010-2019 he was a member of the UK Home Office Advisory Board on the Misuse of Drugs (ACMD) as a member of the Chemistry Council and was Chair of the ACMD New Psychoactive Substances Working Group (NPSWG).
